SteveHirsch is the training officer for Sheridan County Fire District # 1, ThomasCounty Fire District #4, and Grinnell Fire Department, all of which are 100%volunteer fire departments. Steve is the chair and Kansas director on theNational Volunteer Fire Council, served as secretary of the Kansas StateFirefighters Association (KSFFA) from 2000 to 2019 and now serves as First ViceChairman of the KSFFA. His father started a rural fire district in northcentral Kansas in 1963, the year after he was born, so he grew up in the fireservice. Steve is also the county attorney in Decatur County in northwestKansas. He has a private law practice and serves as city attorney for 18 citiesin Norton, Phillips, Graham, Mitchell, Rawlins, Decatur, Sheridan, Thomas, andGove counties.
