As the number of electric vehicles on the roadways increases, it is important for first responders to understand how a response involving these types of vehicles is different than those with an internal combustion engine. This awareness and fundamentals course sponsored by General Motors will introduce first responders to hybrid and electric vehicles, share data and resources, and equip first responders with the knowledge and tools to respond more safely when a hybrid or electric vehicle is involved in an incident.

As a dedicated captain and training officer, I have built a robust career specializing in hazardous materials (hazmat) management and response. Since 2008, I have been passionate about educating and preparing first responders through comprehensive training programs that emphasize safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. My expertise in hazmat operations allows me to lead by example, ensuring that my team is well-equipped to handle emergency situations with confidence and skill. Through years of hands-on experience and a commitment to continuous learning, I have developed a reputation for fostering a culture of safety and excellence within my organization, ultimately contributing to the well-being of both my team and the communities we serve.

This awareness and fundamentals course sponsored by General Motors will introduce first responders to hybrid and electric vehicles, share data and resources, and equip first responders with the knowledge and tools to respond more safely when a hybrid or electric vehicle is involved in an incident. This training will require space outside for a hands-on component with an electric vehicle.
