Fire Chief, Level III Fire Instructor & EMT-Paramedic Instructor

National Fire Academy

Douglas Cline, is a 43-year veteran and student of the Fire Service serving as the Assistant Chief of Professional Development and Standards with Horry County Fire Recue.

Cline, a Fire Chief (Ret.), is a Level III Fire Instructor, National Fire Academy Instructor and an EMT-Paramedic instructor. Chief Cline is the 2nd Vice Chair for the South Carolina Firefighters Association Officer Section, a past President of the South Carolina State Association of Fire Chiefs, Executive Director for the National Fire Academy Alumni Association, past President International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), past President of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs (SEAFC), a member of the South Carolina and North Carolina Society of Fire and Rescue Instructors. Cline served on the FEMA grant criteria development committee, Congressional Fire Service Institute (CFSI) National Advisory Committee, past member of the FDIC Advisory Board and peer reviewer for the Fire Act Grants.

Cline was honored in 2000 with the prestigious International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI), George D. Post International Instructor of the Year. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Services with a Minor in Education from Concord University and a Chief Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Cline is a well-known international speaker presenting dynamic power packed /high intensity programs on leadership, officer development, instructor development, rapid intervention team training, health and safety and firefighter safety and survival. Cline also is a highly published author.

Cline co-host of www.thecompanyofficer.com.  Cline further hosts “Fire and Training” blog talk radio show on Fire Engineering and “The Chief’s trumpet”, the Official pod cast for the Southeast Association of Fire Chiefs. Cline also has multiple training videos on Leadership, Rapid Intervention Team Training, Vehicle Fires, Hose Line Management, Emergency Vehicle Operations and Fire Ground Safety and Survival.  Cline is also a contributing editor to the Carolina Fire Journal.
