The Way Forward: Ending Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence in the Fire Service

This course aims to answer questions like “why don’t more women join the fire service?” and “how do we prevent sexual harassment and violence in our stations?” The Way Forward speaks directly these questions and addresses the cultural factors that perpetuate sexist norms, harassment, and violence in fire stations. This course provides education on the sexual violence continuum, what to do if someone is sexually assaulted in your fire house, how to better respond to survivors you encounter while working and how to be a trauma-informed leader.

Ali Rothrock

Ali Rothrock is a speaker, author, educator and advocate who has delivered over 500 presentations nationwide. Ali has been in the volunteer fire service since 2005, enjoying more than a decade as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. Ali is the CEO & Lead Instructor for On the Job and Off, an online platform dedicated to building more resilient first responders.
