Chief Charles L. Werner (Emeritus - Ret.), has served in public safety for 45 years.   Chief Werner started his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter in Harrisonburg VA.  He then became a career firefighter with the Charlottesville Virginia Fire Dept. for 37 years, serving the last ten years as fire chief. Following retirement, Chief Werner served 2 years as senior advisor/acting deputy state coordinator for the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Chief Werner presently serves as the director of DRONERESPONDERS, is chair of the Virginia Secure Commonwealth UAS sub panel and is a certificated FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot. He is a contributor to numerous public safety publications with a combination of over 300 nationally published articles, webinars, podcasts and presentations.
