Mike Simpson is the Director of Solutions Engineering at The AES Corporation, where he leads a team of engineers that develop and pilot new energy technologies, developing innovative solutions to more efficiently, sustainably, and cost-effectively deliver energy. Mike possesses a thorough knowledge of energy efficient systems design, utilization, and performance, and has extensive experience and expertise in smart grid, renewable generation and two decades of experience working with battery energy storage technologies. In addition to AES, Mike’s career includes engineering and leadership positions at Fluence, EPRI and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Mike is based in the Denver area and holds degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
