Scott Plumer is the Deputy Fire Marshal for the Arvada Fire Protection District. He is also a contract instructor for the National Fire Academy in the fire investigation curriculum. He has over 15 years of experience in the fire protection industry. Prior to working at Arvada Fire, he was a property risk engineering consultant and then a fire investigator for a large insurance company. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Baltimore County, Maryland. Mr. Plumer has a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Florida State University. He is an IAAI-CFI and qualified as an NWCG INVF. He is also a licensed fire protection engineer.
Deanna Zurey has over 20 years of fire service experience and serves as the Division Chief of Community Risk Reduction (CRR) at Arvada Fire in Colorado. She is an active member of the Colorado Risk Reduction Network, is an instructor at the National Fire Academy, has engaged in several initiatives through the Vision 20/20 project, including leading the Champions and Emerging Leaders in CRR National Group, and is a steering committee member for CRR Week. Deanna earned a master's level education from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Kinesiology with an emphasis in injury prevention. While a graduate student, she worked with Denver metro area firefighters to reduce the incidence of on-the-job injuries and cardiac-related events. Having experienced firsthand the loss associated with a fire, she strives to reduce the risk of such a tragic event for others.
